Our Successful Launch Event in Beijing
Common Ground successfully launched the first leg of its world tour in Beijing, China this past November. The event generated enormous print, broadcast and online media visibility for the participating artists and for our the host venue, the Huan Tie Art Museum.
What is Common Ground? Acclaimed and emerging artists, galleries, museums, curators, celebrities, consumers and students all meeting at the intersection of art, new media and support for a cleaner environment.
Our 2008 ‘call for entry’ to artists worldwide resulted in over 1000 digital art submissions from over 40 countries. A curatorial committee of renowned artists, academics and advisors selected the pieces that make up The Common Ground Collection.
The Common Ground Collection
Each piece in this touring collection will be published as museum quality limited edition prints and available for purchase at the Common Ground events and online. A commemorative Common Ground hardcover book, sponsored by HP and A&I Labs, has been published in an edition of 250 copies, and all the proceeds will be donated to our environmental non-profit organizations: The World Wildlife Fund, Global Giving, and the Global Environmental Institute.
International Touring Exhibition
The Common Ground touring exhibition now moves to North America and Europe in the Summer and Fall of 2010. Exact dates and locations are currently being finalized. Hewlett Packard (HP) has generously committed to be our primary corporate sponsor.
With our successful launch in Beijing in 2008, a brand new Common Ground digital art collection will be produced every 4 years to coincide with the Olympic Games’ host city. Accordingly, Common Ground 2012 will premier in London during the 2012 Olympic Games.
